A mother of four, photographer, nature lover. Someone trying to make sense of it all, through photos and stories.

I try to be free in all senses of the word, so I made the leap and now work with what I love doing; taking pictures, storing this life in moments, both for myself and for clients. My heart is in photographing birth and motherhood, but I take on just about any photography job.
(See my birth photos at www.birth.no and the rest of my work portfolio at www.mariavatne.no.)

I live on a farm in Norway with my man Nik and my children Ronja, Freja, Falk and Ulv, plus a bunch of animals. We grow our own food as far as the seasons allow it, we don't go to kindergarten, the three youngest ones will be homeschooled.

We govern our own lives, we strive for independence, we want to be in this life wild and free and full of love.

Treasures: An-Magritt.

This is the first in a new series of posts I have chosen to call Treasures: Introducing people who do or make stuff more people should know about.

You can say many things about social media, but it sure has presented one great thing in my life: The acquaintance of people I never (probably) would have met or gotten to know if it hadn't been for the internet. When I started blogging and reading other peoples blogs five years ago, I quickly found - and fell in love with - the style, words and images of this beautiful lady: An-Magritt Moen. A couple of years ago An-Magritt started her own business, working from home on her farm, making personalised jewellery, and I was quick to order one back then. She made me a necklace with three bronze coins, each bearing one of my children's name. I remember asking her back then, ut what if I have another baby?, and she said I'll make you a new one! ...and she did! Last week a beautiful little parcel came in the post, and inside was another necklace, this time with four coins. So lovely!

An-Magritt and her husband have a webshop called Pil & Bue, where they sell the loveliest items. Her jewellery is there, of course, and beautiful clothes, interior stuff, crafty things, toys, posters - all especially chosen by the lady and her man, with an extra eye on fair trade and eco production. It definitely is worth a visit. Go to www.pilbue.no and see for yourself!
